MAJOR MILESTONES

1961
Mevis was set up as a sole director company, with the precise objective of satisfying the growing demand for springs from the local market.
1977
Mevis moved into its current premises in Rosà. Manufacturing was reorganised into production centres, making the process far more flexible and far better able to respond to growing market demand.
1983
Mevis introduced Company Wide Quality Control to optimise the use of new technology and manage a growing organisation.
1986
Mevis adopted a “Just in Time” production system and set up project groups as part of a process of global improvement. Renewed and strengthened in this way, Mevis was ready to enter the single European market.
1994
Mevis’ Quality System was awarded ISO 9001 certification. The same year, Mevis enjoyed significant growth in the automobile and electro-technical sectors.
1997
Mevis became the first European spring manufacturer to obtain certification according to the rigorous automotive standards AVSQ 94/EAQF 94/VDA6 and QS 9000 on top of ISO 9001. SAP R/3 was also introduced the same year.
2000
Mevis 5, a pilot plant where all aspects of material flow were managed according to kanban principles, was inaugurated. Striving continuously towards excellence in products and services, Mevis also obtained further certification of its Quality System according to ISO TS 16949. The first edition of the Mevis Charter of Values was published this year too.
2002
Mevis’ laboratory was accredited by Italy’s Ministry for Education, Universities and Research.
2003
Acquisition of the Mevis 7 production unit doubled Mevis’ capacity for tooling development.
2006
Encouraged by a series of achievements and growing sales, Mevis trebled the size of the Mevis 1 production plant (extending it by 20,000 m2) and also inaugurated Mevis Slovakia.
2008
Mevis Slovakia obtained ISO 9001:2000 certification.
Peripheral production units were consolidated in the Mevis1 unit. Mevis Slovakia obtained ISO TS16949 certification.
2011
Mevis Slovakia opened a second plant in Galanta. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary.
2014
Mevis High Precision Metal Components (Yangzhou) Co., Ltd., the company’s first production plant and development centre in China was inaugurated. Production began in 2014.
2015
The two new plants China (7000 mq) and Slovakia (21000 mq) were completed.
