Mevis and ZZ Tech (Zhejiang Zhongze Precision Technology Co. Ltd.) have formalized the establishment of Europe's first joint venture dedicated to the production of precision structural components for battery cells (cans and lids), serving Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) applications. The initiative targets the growing demand across electric mobility, advanced digital infrastructure, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centers.
The partnership combines Mevis' established European industrial footprint and experience with the advanced technological expertise and manufacturing processes validated on an industrial scale by ZZ Tech alongside leading global cell producers. As part of the agreement, the manufacturing facility in Slovakia has already been selected and prepared, creating the conditions for the rapid installation of production equipment and ensuring close operational proximity to European customers.
“Europe is building its own battery value chain, a transformation that requires both manufacturing capacity and access to the best expertise available worldwide,” emphasized Federico Visentin, CEO of Mevis. “Through this joint venture, we are combining our industrial strength and proximity to European customers with ZZ Tech's technological know-how, creating a platform capable of accelerating the development of capabilities and technologies across the continental value chain.”
“This agreement confirms our commitment to supporting the battery industry on a global scale and represents a key milestone for our European strategy, following the joint venture recently launched in Malaysia,” commented Samuel Wu, CEO of ZZ Tech. “In Mevis, we have found a partner with a strong industrial reputation and a shared vision: together, we will bring advanced expertise to Europe, helping build a more competitive, resilient, and customer-proximate supply chain.”
The signing of the agreement follows the strategic path announced by the two companies last June in Stuttgart on the occasion of Battery Show Europe 2026.
